How long have you been in your industry?28 years
Why did you choose your industry?I have worked in Commercial finance my entire career and recently moved into machinery and equipment. I joined Loeb in 2023 because I wanted a position that was recession proof. As a lender, the highs and lows of the economy can really impact your career.
Who are your typical clients?Clients who have equity in their machinery and equipment and need working capital for their company. We work primarily with clients in the food and liquid industry, processing, packaging, pharmaceutical, construction etc. who have with assets from $1MM to $20MM.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Every day is different. I am able to sit with CFO's and CEO's and learn about their company, industry trends, their working capital needs and projections. Every day is different, and I love working with business owners on their cash flow needs.
What are common problems you see?Misinformation. Most business owners do not know the options available in the alternative finance industry. There are a lot of loan sharks and predatory lenders in the market - learning how to navigate your options can be overwhelming.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Working with an investment banker, turnaround consultant or commercial finance broker could be a great start as long as they are reputable. Research these companies and what is available in the market for your company. I am always available if someone needs a recommendation.
When is your busy season? All year. The only time we are not busy is when the economy stops for brief moments like Oct 2024 right before the election.
What keeps you up at night?Nothing. I have been doing this long enough that I do not think about work after hours.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I have a solid LinkedIn following and word of mouth has been key. All of my business comes from professional referrals. https://www.linkedin.com/in/mcclurecarolyn/
How involved are you in the community?n/a
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Church
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Start working for a reputable company and learn as much as you can on the floor. Our industry is very welcoming and a lot of us are willing mentors.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Anything on or near the water as well as travel
