How long have you been in your industry?3 years (30+ with my partner’s experience)
Why did you choose your industry? My industry really is about health and wellness. I want to help people stay healthy. I choose my industry so I could help business owners offer benefit packages that include health insurance and other supplemental or gap coverages. This helps employees who are in need of insurance. Most importantly I want to educate the employees on benefits so they can be used appropriately.
Who are your typical clients?Typical clients are business owners with 3-300 employees. These businesses may be located in Florida or another state.
What do you like best about being in this industry? The best thing is hearing the stories of other entrepreneurs and how they have helped the community, their employees or themselves
What are common problems you see?Common problems are that most people spend less than 10 minutes thinking about insurance… until a problem arises.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Be proactive. Think of you benefit package as part of your health and wellness journey.
When is your busy season? All the time
What keeps you up at night?I sleep well at night.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?I am a member of the St. John’s Chamber of commerce as well as BNI. I also continue to actively seek out new businesses. Over the last year I have also focused on my online presence (updating webpage, posting regularly on fb, linked in, soliciting Google Reviews).
How involved are you in the community?I stay involved in the community by attending church, attending ribbon cuttings, working out a local gym and supporting small business whenever possible.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Right now we actively support Tunnels to Towers with a monetary donation but one of the networking groups I am in picks a different charity every week. We donate when possible such as furniture to Hope for Veterans as well as sponsoring a table at Kelly Farm Event’s Orchestra Fundraiser.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Be ready to be told No. Keep your head down and chin up.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Sailing, Running, Yoga, Cooking.
