How long have you been in your industry?6 years
Why did you choose your industry?PayRio chose to operate in alternative medicine industries, recognizing these markets as historically underserved. Our mission is twofold: - Empower alternative medicine businesses with low-cost, scalable, & compliant solutions.- Bridge the gap between high-risk & low-risk industries by offering services across the entire risk spectrum.By addressing the unique challenges of these sectors while also serving traditional businesses, we are fostering a more inclusive financial ecosystem for all.
Who are your typical clients?PayRio caters to a diverse clientele, primarily focusing on: Cannabis dispensaries, high-risk e-commerce, or other alternative medicine providers. Our clients share a common thread: they're looking for compliant, scalable, and cost-effective financial solutions that can adapt to their specific needs and industry regulations.
What do you like best about being in this industry? We love solving payment puzzles for merchants, especially in underserved markets. The fast-paced, ever-changing landscape keeps us on our toes, pushing us to innovate constantly. We're not just processing payments; we're championing financial inclusivity and breaking down barriers. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, and that's what makes our work so exciting!
What are common problems you see? There are many problems in the industries we operate in. Cash-heavy operations create safety risks and operational nightmares, while the compliance landscape is a constantly shifting minefield. Many businesses struggle with unreliable payment solutions that can't keep up with their growth, leaving them vulnerable.
When is your busy season? All year!
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Marketing in the cannabis industry presents unique challenges due to federal legal restrictions. Traditional advertising channels (Instagram, Google Ads) are unavailable to cannabis businesses and ancillary services. We primarily leverage partnerships to expand our business. LinkedIn is a valuable platform for us, as it's cannabis-friendly and doesn't impose censorship on industry-related content.
How involved are you in the community? At PayRio, we're deeply rooted in the cannabis community. We're proud to be involved with several organizations that are shaping the future of the industry. To name a few:- Women in Cannabis: We're big supporters of gender diversity in the cannabis space.- CLAB (Cannabis Lab): We're active participants in multiple Florida-based organizations under the CLAB umbrella.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Ronald McDonald House
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Success in this industry is a marathon, not a sprint. It requires patience, persistence, and a thick skin. But for those who can handle the heat, the cannabis industry offers an incredible and potentially rewarding journey.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Coupon, Being a soccer mom for my 2 boys!
